Successes & New Acquaintances

Something a little different...

This week's blog is a little different as it's not technically about Let's Highlight but it has had a positive impact on the project, so I it's worth mentioning.

This week, there was a networking event and Centre Space Arts were the guest speakers for this month's event. Our "head teaboy" and Creative director, Mr Darren Washington, took this is positive and personal challenge to present the talk and it went brilliantly. Supportive friends and new faces warmly welcomed him as he talked his way through the presentation that we prepared.

In this presentation, Darren mentioned how we came to work for Warm-This-Winter and how a great working relationship has evolved from it. He spoke about the morale boost the Day of Action 2022 event created and how with this year's plan, we want to keep that going. We want to help people on a on a larger scale and help to voice their true feelings and concerns during these everchanging living situations we're facing.

Thanks to Darren's efforts and speaking about our current project, those new faces in the crowd became new acquaintances. With such a great range of people at the event, it also included

a few business that are potentially perfect for our plans regarding advice drop-ins and

potential free home upgrades.

Latest Warm This Winter News:

Charities have lined up to condemn the new Chancellor's decision to restrict the Winter Fuel Payment (WFP) to a smaller group of older households.

Age UK estimate that more than 800,000 older people living on very low incomes,  who are already missing out of the Pension Credit, will now lose the WFP that helps them to pay their fuel bills.

A spokesperson for the End Fuel Poverty Coalition added:

"The Chancellor must urgently think again and consult with older people’s charities on a better way to target this support to a wider group of pensioners."
