As you may have seen, as part of our installation, there is a magnificent dollhouse that has had a bit of a makeover. With all the hard work and creativity that went in to it, we thought it deserved its own blog.
Here is a little look into the work that went into this amazing eco-house...
The house was designed by the children at Creative Club at Middleport Matters.
Their brief was an eco-house that was to be as energy efficient as possible whilst also being comfortable and cosy for a family to live in.
Over a course of a few weeks we worked with the children to put together a floor plan and and a idea of how the house could be more eco-friendly and energy efficient.
Learning about old houses and future ideas, they came up with some amazing ideas from an irrigation system to drying racks
They created the base of the dollhouse: the sofas, beds and utilities.
The next part of the plan is where the wonderfully talented Su Hurrell comes in.
With the floor plans, designs and utilities at hand, Su, using her artistic skills and environmental knowledge, Su got to work.
Using the ideas the children provided, Su expanded on them in a practical sense, like using strings of LEDs and creating the garden to be muti-purpose and building the irrigation system.
We now have a beautifully created dollhouse that has a ray of brilliant and different functions that reduces energy usages and is eco-friendly.
